Fourth of July holiday preparation and travel begins

PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WTOC) – It might be a trip down the road or a days-long road trip, either way, the roads and skies are filled with travelers looking a weekend away.

The 4th of July weekend is much like every other holiday weekend, a few days to pack the suitcase or car and travel with family.

AAA predicts that nearly 71 million people will be on the road over the next few days, and according to those we spoke with, they may not be too far off.

Each year since Covid-19, AAA has predicted a steady incline in travelers and here in Georgia the say that 2.3 million people will be hoping in their cars and heading down the road.

With more people on the roads the next few days police presence has been increased according to Georgia State Patrol and they are warning everyone to stay focused and safe this holiday week.
