Freddie Freeman’s World Series MVP odds soar with home run streak in Game 4 vs Yankees

Who will be MVP of 2024 World Series? L.A. Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman extended his epic home run streak to make his case in Game 4 vs. Yankees in New York.

play

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been in total control of the 2024 World Series. In fact, they haven’t trailed since Freddie Freeman‘s grand slam in the bottom of the tenth inning in Game 1. However, Freeman’s heroics didn’t stop there. He also hit a dinger in Game 2, and Game 3, and today, he hit one in Game 4.

It didn’t take long for the Dodgers’ first baseman to make his impact on the potential series-clinching game. He smacked a two-run shot in the top of the first inning to give the Dodgers an early lead over the New York Yankees.

Given that Freeman has driven in more runs (9) than the Yankees have scored all series (7), Freeman’s World Series MVP odds were sure to be great before his fourth home run. Now, it’s all but assured, so long as the Yankees don’t come back and win the series in seven.

What’s the record for most home runs in a World Series?

The record is 5, currently held by three different hitters:

  • Reggie Jackson (Yankees, 1977)
  • Chase Utley (Phillies, 2009)
  • George Springer (Astros, 2017)

Ironically, Jackson’s five home runs came for the Yankees, who defeated the Dodgers in six games. In 2009, the Yankees defeated the Phillies in six games despite Utley’s five home runs. Finally, in 2017, Springer achieved this feat in seven games.
