Free sports physicals at new youth center in Escanaba

ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) – on Thursday, Health officials and Bay College students and staff celebrated the new child and adolescent health center on Bay’s Escanaba campus.

The Center for Youth Health & Wellness opened July 1. It provides physical and mental health care for anyone ages 10 to 21 years old.

The clinic is a partnership between Public Health, Delta & Menominee Counties (PHDM) and the college. PHDM Health Officer Mike Snyder said the clinic has already served more than 300 patients.

“You don’t need to be a Bay student. You don’t need to be a resident of Delta County. You can be from anywhere and you can be seen here at the Center for Youth Health & Wellness,” Snyder said. “If you do have insurance we will bill you. If you don’t have the ability to pay, there will be no charge.”

Grades 6 through 12 can get free sports physicals through Aug. 30. For an appointment, call 906-786-1672 or send an email to thecenter@phdm.org. The center is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
