Freedom Pointe CrossFit gives advice for fitness resolutions next year

Miamisburg, Ohio (WKEF) — Freedom Pointe CrossFit gives advice for fitness resolutions next year.

Now that Christmas is over, many are thinking about what’s ahead in 2025, and that includes resolutions. Freedom Pointe CrossFit is one of many places in the Dayton area committed to helping you accomplish your fitness resolutions next year. Dayton 24/7 Now’s Kaitlyn Herman heard some advice from the owner of the gym.

Freedom Pointe CrossFit owner and coach, Robert Kramer, said he found CrossFit when he hit a lull with his normal workouts. He said his gym sees all kinds of people; beginners and professionals, old and young, men and women.

“People are a little nervous always walking through, but I genuinely believe once you walk through that door and you see the people, the everyday people that are in there, you’ve already done the hardest part, walking through the door,” said Kramer.

Kramer said a lot of beginner’s overestimate how quickly they will see results and get discouraged when they aren’t able to accomplish what they expect right away.

“Set easily attainable goals and then once you start checking those boxes off and obtaining those goals, now we’re starting to see some progress, right, and then you’re going to start being consistent in there. One percent better every day is what we say,” added Kramer.

Kramer recommended making a goal to workout a certain number of times a week rather than trying to lift a certain weight or run a specific distance. He also explained what you can expect from a workout program at Freedom Pointe.

“Walk in. The coach will be there. They’re going to take you through a warmup, go over the workout. You’ll do the workout and then you’ll be out in an hour,” explained Kramer.

He said it might even be easier to make a resolution with a friend or loved one if you’re intimidated walking into a new gym by yourself. But if you’re looking to make your own workouts on your own time, Anytime Fitness is also running a new years deal. From now until January 31st, new customers can start their memberships with just a $1 enrollment fee.

And if you don’t want to spend money to accomplish your resolutions, Five Rivers MetroParks posted their 2025 wellness guide. It said spending time in nature can provide mental health benefits like reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. They also have gardening guides for healthier eating and an adventure speaker series for folks to find new hobbies.
