Save big on holiday travel: How to find cheap flights
Many families will be flying this holiday season in order to visit family and friends. It’s one of the busiest times of the year and the airports know that. Here’s a look at what Georgia’s major ones are doing to celebrate Christmas and make the travel more fun:
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
At 11 a.m. Dec. 5, Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport will officially kick off the tree lighting in the Domestic Atrium featuring performances by local students. Passengers will also be gifted various travel tokens. Through out the season, passengers will be treated to singing, dancing, live music, and other entertainment from partner schools.
The airport also publishes an annual holiday gift guide that highlights the available shops as well as last-minute gift ideas. It’s available to read at online.flippingbook.com/view/1046473035/12/.
Augusta Regional Airport
Starting on Dec. 19, Augusta Regional Airport will have five different performers entertaining those at baggage claim. Santa Claus will visit the main foyer of the terminal building 9-11 a.m. on Dec. 19, 20, and 23.
There is also a sweepstakes to win two free roundtrip tickets on American Airlines from Augusta to Washington D.C. The winner will be randomly selected on Dec. 20 and will have until June to use the tickets. For more details, go to flyags.com/enter-to-win.
Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport
Now through Dec. 19, Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport will host “School Music Days” every day with thousands of students from local schools performing during the holiday season.
The airport also does a “Home for the Holidays” contest in which service members are nominated and five are awarded round-trip flights to reunite with their families for Christmas. This year’s contest is closed and the winners will be announced on Dec. 10 on WTOC.
