FSU baseball vs. UNC prediction, odds in elimination bracket of College World Series
Watch: Link Jarrett is leaning toward starting Jamie Arnold vs. Tennessee
Watch Link Jarrett talks about the College World Series, which starts on Friday and who is he thinking about starting on the mound on Friday.
Florida State baseball (48-16) must do nearly the impossible to reach the 2024 College World Series finals, but it can be done.
FSU will return to Charles Schwab Field for another elimination matchup against North Carolina (48-15) on Tuesday at 2 p.m. on ESPN.
It will be the first time the Seminoles have seen the Tar Heels all year. Besides trying to avoid elimination, FSU and UNC have much in common.
Despite not facing each other in the past two seasons, both ACC foes have reached 48 wins on the season.
The Seminoles and Tar Heels were also victims of defeat by No. 1 Tennessee. North Carolina lost to Tennessee, 6-1, on Sunday. Before that, the Tar Heel beat Virginia 3-2 in a walk-off victory.
After an 0-1 start in a heart-breaking defeat by Tennessee on Friday, FSU bounced back by eliminating Virginia on Sunday, 7-3.
The winner of Tuesday’s game will get a rematch against the Vols on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Here is our prediction.
FSU baseball vs. North Carolina prediction in NCAA College World Series bracket
FSU 9 UNC 5: Game 5 will decide which ACC team will hot at-bat at the right time.
North Carolina had an off night at the plate with only five hits and one run against Tennessee. Meanwhile, FSU had its best all-around performance in all phases of the game against Virginia.
When the Seminoles are on point, they are hard to beat. One big inning could capitalize the game.
But the same can go to the Tar Heels.
According to multiple reports, UNC’s head coach, Scott Forbes, will likely start Aidan Haugh. He is 4-2 on the mound, has thrown 58 strikeouts, and has started seven of the 21 games played.
FSU coach Link Jarrett has yet to decide on his starting pitcher, which could be a game-time decision with Jamie Arnold and Carson Dorsey unavailable.
Conner Whittaker has been the third option as a starting pitcher for FSU, but also have taken roles in the bullpen as well. Whittaker is 5-0 for the Seminoles.
Fortunately for Jarrett, it’s a good problem to have with the options he has on staff. Whoever starts on the bump will be a collective effort from the defense and the bullpen.
We might see other pitchers such as Brennan Oxford, Joe Charles, Connor Hults and John Abraham.
FSU cannot allow North Carolina to go hot, especially from Vance Honeycutt. If the Seminoles can contain him, they can likely continue their CWS run.
