Furniture maker to create 250 jobs, invest $70 million in Mocksville – Business North Carolina

SBA Home plans to invest more than $70 million and create 250 jobs with the opening of a furniture manufacturing facility in Mocksville.

Gov. Roy Cooper announced earlier today that the investment marks the company’s first North American furniture production facility. SBA Home is the newly created and largest division of SBA Grupe UAB, a Lithuanian conglomerate that exports furniture to 50 different countries. 

Davie County beat out Cherokee County, South Carolina, for the project, according to the state’s Economic Investment Committee.

The company plans to create the jobs over four years, starting in 2026, the committee said in an executive project summary. The minimum average wage is estimated to be $53,470, exceeding the county’s average wage of $49,788.

After more than two decades, SBA Grupe’s employment has grown to more than 3,000 people in four manufacturing facilities and a distribution center in Lithuania. It will build a 500,000-square-foot facility in Mocksville to manufacture and distribute trendy furniture products to meet the demand of U.S. customers, the governor’s office said.

The new facility will create manufacturing, warehousing, administrative and managerial jobs with a potential annual payroll of more than $13.3 million.

The company is getting a state Job Development Investment Grant that authorizes the potential reimbursement of as much as $1.42 million over 12 years. In turn, the investment is projected to expand the state’s economy by $435.8 million during those years. The state will distribute payments to the company after verifying that it has met incremental job creation and investment targets, according to the governor’s office.

The city of Mocksville and Davie County are providing local incentives worth $800,000 for the project.
