Gadsden police launch new initiative to stop illegal gambling

GADSDEN, Ala. (WBRC) – The Gadsden Police Department is working on what it calls Operation Jackpot.

Gadsden PD has raided several gambling establishments in an effort to stop illegal gambling.

Gadsden police launched the operation after receiving multiple complaints from residents, forming a taskforce to investigate illegal gambling activity around the city.

The initiative is part of Mayor Craig Ford’s efforts to clean up the city.

According to Gadsden police, 72 machines have been recovered and more than $20,000 in cash.
