Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra get October security update

Mere days after the Galaxy S24 FE got the latest security patch for Samsung smartphones and tablets, the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra are joining the party. The October 2024 security update is now rolling out to the original Galaxy S24 trio.

The USA is the first market to get the Galaxy S24 series’ October update. It is available on some carrier-locked variants including AT&T’s, and we expect it to go live for other carrier variants and unlocked units soon, in addition to other countries around the world.

The October 2024 security patch fixes 30 security flaws in the Android operating system and 12 that exclusively affect Galaxy devices. It also fixes a vulnerability affecting Galaxy smartphones and smartwatches powered by specific Exynos processors but isn’t applicable to the Exynos 2400 chip inside the Galaxy S24 and S24+.

You can identify the update by checking the final four characters of its build number, which are AXI1. To download it, open the Settings app on your phone, navigate to Software update, and tap Download and install.

This is purely a security update and doesn’t have anything else to offer. And that may unfortunately be the case for most, if not all, Galaxy S24 updates this year. It’s because Samsung has delayed the Android 15 and One UI 7.0 update to 2025.

However, Galaxy S24 owners in some markets will get the chance to beta test One UI 7.0 this year. The US will be on the list of countries where beta testing is an option.
