Galaxy S25 Lineup’s Battery Capacities Remain Unchanged From The Galaxy S24 Series, With Samsung Rumored To Have Made Upcoming Models Slightly Thinner

A disappointing aspect of all Galaxy S25 models, at least according to one tipster, is that on the battery capacity side of things, Samsung will keep things unchanged compared to the Galaxy S24 series. However, the dimensions of all three upcoming models hint that the company may not have sufficient space to increase that figure, but we much rather see a slight increase in thickness if it means getting a bigger cell, which will lead to increased runtime.

On X, shortly after sharing the camera bump differences between the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra, Ice Universe is back with another revelation surrounding the Korean giant’s 2025 flagship lineup. According to him, there will be no change to the battery sizes, leaving potential buyers disgruntled. With the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus from last year, Samsung finally addressed customers’ concerns and gave the two handsets a battery upgrade. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s cell remain unchanged from the previous-generation models.

With the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung is maintaining consistency, as the company’s most premium offering arriving next year is said to feature a 5,000mAh battery, with the Galaxy S25 Plus getting shipped with a 4,900mAh unit and the base Galaxy S24 sporting a 4,000mAh capacity. On this occasion, Samsung has a solid reason for keeping the battery sizes unchanged, thanks to the thickness dimensions shared by the tipster. Apparently, all models launching early next year will be 0.4mm thinner than their direct predecessors.

We are of the opinion that a higher runtime should be the priority, and if it means compromising on the thickness, that is a welcome trade-off. Perhaps Samsung’s approach was to obtain bragging rights on how lightweight its Galaxy S25 models will be next year, as Ice Universe has commented in the past that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be the lightest flagship, in part due to its titanium alloy chassis. In terms of a direct weight competition, Samsung’s most premium model is said to beat the iPhone 16 Pro Max narrowly.

All Galaxy S25 models are rumored to exclusively ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is reported to be mass produced on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, making the SoC more power efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This improvement should allow the new series to last longer. Unfortunately, a Snapdragon-only launch could make every Galaxy S25 version more expensive than previous launches, but that will be a discussion for another day. While Ice Universe has had a decent track record in the past, it is still prudent to treat this rumor with a pinch of salt, and we will be back with more updates.
