Galaxy S25 Ultra is getting an upgrade enthusiasts wanted

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will be a major upgrade compared to the Galaxy S series phones of the past few years. The phone is expected to feature a brand-new design, improved cameras, a faster processor, and a new software design. It could also get the RAM upgrade enthusiasts have always wanted.

Galaxy S25 Ultra could have 16GB RAM

According to a claim from reliable tipster @UniverseIce, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has a variant with 16GB RAM. While the tipster didn’t mention the Galaxy S25 Ultra in their X post, going by their history, we think they are talking about Samsung’s next flagship smartphone. And it isn’t just the RAM capacity that is getting an upgrade. A previous report claimed Samsung could bring LPDDR6 DRAM to its flagship phones in 2025.

However, you are mistaken if you think a Samsung phone is getting 16GB RAM for the first time. The Galaxy S20 Ultra and the Galaxy S21 Ultra had variants with 16GB RAM. Then, Samsung downgraded the Galaxy S22 Ultra and newer phones with just 12GB RAM, even in their highest-configured variants.

If Samsung brings 16GB RAM with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, enthusiasts will be happy. Higher RAM is beneficial not only for heavy multitaskers but also for AI tasks. Devices with more memory perform AI tasks faster if all other things stay the same.

Leaked Galaxy S25 Ultra specifications

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will likely feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, which has Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU cores, which are already used in laptops powered by the Snapdragon X Elite chipset. Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship smartphone chip is also rumored to have a much more powerful GPU, so it could be great for gaming.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra reportedly has a 200MP primary rear camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, a 50MP telephoto (3x optical zoom) camera, and a 50MP super telephoto (5x optical zoom) camera. Sadly, Samsung is not expected to improve the battery capacity or charging speeds with its next flagship. The upcoming device is said to be powered by a 5,000mAh battery and 45W fast charging.

Samsung will likely announce the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025 with Android 15-based One UI 7.1 onboard. This new software has a brand-new design and might include more powerful Galaxy AI features.
