Pokemon developer Game Freak has reportedly suffered a massive hack that has revealed several titles that are currently in development, as well as the codename for the Switch 2.
Over the past few years, we’ve seen several major gaming developers get hit with massive hacks. First there was Rockstar Games in 2022, which was hit with a data breach that revealed the first gameplay footage and details of Grand Theft Auto 6. Then there was Insomniac Games, whose unprecedented leak confirmed a bunch of games in the works planned for release over the next ten years.

It seems like the hacks aren’t slowing down any time soon, though. The latest developer to have unfortunately been hit with such a breach is Game Freak, who is best known for its work leading the mainline Pokemon games. Earlier today, reliable Pokemon insider CentroLeaks confirmed that the studio had been hacked and highlighted some of the things that have been shared around already.
Pokemon Developer Game Freak Has Seemingly Been Hacked
Details regarding the hack are still a little unclear right now, but CentroLeaks has been sharing some of what has been discovered from it over on Twitter. One of the biggest surprises is that Game Freak is seemingly working on a Pokemon MMO of some kind, as there’s a file that indicates an “MMO Test” has been in development.
Another project leaked by the hack is Codename Synapse, which is reportedly a new Pokemon game being made in collaboration between Game Freak and ILCA. According to the files, it’s a multiplayer title that’s focused on battles, which some have theorised could be an entry in the Pokemon Stadium series. It’s possible that Codename Synapse is the MMO mentioned above, or has MMO elements.
The hack also reportedly includes the source code for Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
The last big thing to come from the leak is the confirmation that Game Freak is currently working on Gen 10 for the successor to the Nintendo Switch, which is seemingly codenamed “Ounce”. Nothing else about the game that’s being made for the Switch 2 has been revealed right now, but with more and more being shared about the hack, it’s likely to come out in the near future.
Game Freak and Nintendo have yet to make a comment about the hack since it occurred so recently, but if the Insomniac and Rockstar Games situations are anything to go by, we can likely expect some kind of response soon.
