Garcelle Beauvais’ 16-Year-Old Son Jaid Makes His Runway Debut at Sutton Stracke’s Green Label Fashion Show

Jaid Thomas Nilon is officially a runway model.

On Monday, July 22, the 16-year-son walked the runway at Sutton Stracke’s Green Label Fashion Show, where he modeled two outfits from her new sustainable clothing line. Jaid’s proud mom, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais, was in the audience watching her son make his big debut.

“I’m so excited,” Beauvais said in an interview with Page Six. “He just started modeling.” The reality star added that she spent the morning coaching her son — much to his dismay.

She told the outlet, “I had him practicing for me today. He’s like, ‘Mom, I’m not gonna look at you. Like, Mom, you gotta be cool.’ ”

When it came time to hit the runway, Jaid did, in fact, keep it cool. One of the up-and-coming model’s outfits was an all-black look featuring a puffer vest over a simple t-shirt and baggy pants. He completed the ensemble with a pair of white and black sneakers.

For his second outfit, Jaid again displayed a casual coolness as he exchanged the puffer vest for a tan jacket with red detailing and a white patch, which he draped over his shoulders.

The NYPD Blue alum told PEOPLE at a Pride event in June that she’s “trying not to be a momager.” Beauvais, who began her career at age 17, also said she will offer her son some tips along the way.

“It’s his journey but of course I’m going to give him tips,” she adds, before noting she doesn’t love the idea of her son traveling the world solo just yet.

“It’s really weird because when I started I was 17 and I would travel all over the world by myself. And now I don’t know if I’d want him to go all over the world by himself. It’s different. But I think it’s awesome,” she said of Jaid’s burgeoning career.

The 16-year-old is one of Beauvais’ three children. She is also mom to Oliver Saunders, 32, with her ex-husband Daniel Saunders, as well as Jaid’s twin, Jax, both of whom she shares with her ex Michael Nilon.

At the show, Stracke revealed to PEOPLE how she decided to get into the sustainable fashion business.

“This is my Sutton brand’s green line. It’s my travel collection and it’s an all sustainable circular fashion,” she says. “And I have gotten into sustainability about, I guess it’s been two years, maybe three years ago I started learning about sustainability.”

She continues, “The word is often unused. There really isn’t a sustainable fashion line. I think we are kind of doing the first one. We’re definitely pioneers.”

Stracke went on to add that she’s been learning about the impact fashion has on the environment, saying, “I wanted to be a part of the solution and not part of the problem. And so my business partner’s in Houston in recycling and so he said, you need to start getting into sustainability with fashion. So that’s what we’re doing.”
