George County Fair in full swing with food, fun and entertainment

GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) – Gates are open at the George County Fair, where fairgoers can experience a week of food and fun.

While some took advantage of the typical fair experience, many made their way to the children’s steer and swine show, where the young farmers showcased their pigs and cows for competition.

George County Communications Director Ken Flanagan said the event is always one of the most popular events in the county year after year.

“The people that come out here every year come to support the George County 4H and I think it’s a really great thing and such a blessing for the people that do come back year after year,” Camille Lawrence said, a young lady showcasing her steer.

After they presented their animals, they were auctioned off, getting some financial gain for the years of work.

The kids show that hard work can be done with other responsibilities.

“It’s not that hard. You have to not be lazy,” Brantley Havard said. “You have to motivate yourself to come out here, not play video games and just get out and running around.”

The fair runs until October 19 at the George County Fairgrounds.
