Georgia Department of Economic Development Activates Travel Alert for Tropical Storm Debby

As Tropical Storm Debby approaches, the Georgia Department of Economic Development has launched a travel alert webpage to help evacuees and travelers find lodging, visitor center details, and emergency resources.

In anticipation of Tropical Storm Debby, the Georgia Department of Economic Development has launched a travel alert webpage to support travelers and evacuees.

This resource aims to provide up-to-date information on hotel and lodging availability, the locations and operating hours of the state’s nine Visitor Information Centers, and links to critical emergency resources.

The dedicated webpage can be accessed at exploregeorgia.org/debby.

Georgia’s nine Visitor Information Centers are fully equipped to assist travelers with identifying accommodations and providing travel information. Each center offers clean restrooms, ample parking, and outdoor spaces for walking pets. The centers operate daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with any changes to these hours updated on the Travel Alert webpage.

Facilities at the Valdosta, St. Marys, and Port Wentworth (Savannah) centers are open 24/7. These centers are strategically located on or near major evacuation routes, ensuring continuous access to restrooms and other essential services.
