Sprecher Brewing Company is continuing its growth in beverages as it takes a minority stake in O2 Hydration, a sports drink company based in Columbus, Ohio.

The Glendale-based company made the announcement on Thursday. Sprecher CEO Sharad Chadha said the investment is part of the company’s “overall growth strategy.”

Our January acquisition of Juvee allowed us to enter the energy drink category, and now we’re diversifying even more in the better-for-you sports drink market with this minority stake in O2 Hydration,” Chadha said adding O2 Hydration is “a unique product and (has) an incredible track record.”

As part of the investment, Sprecher plans to begin production and distribution of O2 Hydration internationally.

Dave Colina, O2 Hydration CEO, said the drink is “a healthier alternative to big-sugar brands like Gatorade and meme drinks like Prime.”

“We welcome our new partnership with Sprecher, and we can’t wait to introduce O2 to a global audience thirsty for a change,” Colina said.

According to the company, Sprecher sales have been up “more than 300% since 2020.”
