Glenn County Fair promises fun, entertainment

ORLAND — There will be fun to be had by all at the Glenn County Fair in Orland this year.

The fair dates are Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, May 19.

Cattlemans day is canceled this year because of a lack of entries. The Demolition Derby will be held Saturday, May 18.

There will be a makers market with local businesses selling their wares and promoting their businesses in the Whitsett-Cook building. Most of the businesses are located in Glenn County, but there will be some from Butte and Tehama counties. There will be live demonstrations, such as bakery staff taking photos at a photo booth and transferring the pictures onto cookies. There will also be a plant lady doing a planting demonstration.

“Everything has a live entertainment element,” said Kathy Bartels, fair CEO. “Three local high schools have a floral program, so there will be a live floral competition Friday at 4 p.m. also at the Whitsett-Cook building.”

There will be a record number of hogs, with livestock entries up and a junior livestock audition Saturday which starts at 9 a.m.

The livestock entries have with beef replacement heifers, dairy replacement heifers, which are pregnant beef and dairy cows.

“When people come they can purchase them, like a two for one,” said Bartels.
