Global Entertainment Marketing Academy Sets Board of Directors, Announces Fall ‘Converge’ Event
The Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Arts & Sciences the org formerly known as Promax that relaunched in February, has revealed its new board of directors, as well as an honorary board of advisors. GEMA, which has expanded from TV to also include verticals devoted to film, music, sports and video game marketing execs, has also announced plans for a two-day event in Los Angeles this fall dubbed “Converge.”
The news was announced Thursday by GEMA president Stacy La Cotera. “Our vision and values serve as the guiding principles behind every action we take,” said La Cotera. “That’s why our board of directors plays a central role in actively collaborating to ensure strategic decisions align with our shared mission: honoring marketing and creative excellence, nurturing growth and inclusivity, fostering creativity, and enriching our cultural landscape. Together, they guide the organization’s evolution toward a sustainable future and shape the future of entertainment marketing.”
The board includes execs from networks, studios, streamers and companies like Warner Bros. Discovery, Fox Entertainment, YouTube, Disney, NBC, FX Networks, Hulu, Paramount+, the Los Angeles Rams, Roblox, AEG and more.
The honorary board includes execs from Disney, Fox Sports, NBCUniversal and NASCAR.
“The honorary board of advisors for GEMA is composed of distinguished industry leaders, former board members, and dedicated supporters who are passionate about championing the entertainment marketing industry,” said La Cotera. “These esteemed individuals recognize the crucial role and mission of GEMA and offer invaluable guidance and expertise. Serving in an advisory capacity, they support our Academy’s commitment to innovation and excellence in entertainment marketing. Together, they will help us continue to build a thriving organization dedicated to nurturing the next generation of marketers and creatives.”
As for 2024 Converge, the event will take place on September 30 and October 1. It’s a prelude to a larger “Convergence” event set for fall 2025, La Cotera said.
“This fall, our members will have the opportunity to converge in Los Angeles to immerse themselves in cutting-edge marketing strategies, master new audience engagement techniques, and explore the forefront of digital marketing,” said La Cotera. “We will uncover the key elements that drive deep fan engagement and gain a comprehensive ‘state of the industry’ perspective across entertainment verticals.”
Details on the new board members, as well as information on Academy membership, can be found on GEMA’s website.
