Key Takeaways:

  • The Global Fashion Summit will host its first edition in China on November 7, 2024, during the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
  • The event will gather local and international industry leaders to discuss sustainable fashion, emphasizing collaboration and progress towards environmental and social goals.
  • The summit’s theme, “Unlocking The Next Level,” will focus on innovative solutions and evidence-based progress for the fashion industry’s sustainability transformation.
  • China’s significant role in the global fashion market, as the largest exporter of readymade garments and a rapidly growing luxury market, will be a focal point of the discussions.

The Global Fashion Summit, a leading forum for sustainable fashion, is expanding its reach with a special edition in China. The Global Fashion Summit: Shanghai Gala will be held on November 7, 2024, during the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Presented by Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) and Chinamind NEXT, this inaugural Shanghai edition will convene local and global fashion industry leaders for an evening of discussions centered on sustainability, innovation, and collaboration.

Since its founding by GFA in 2009, the Global Fashion Summit has become a key platform for addressing critical environmental, social, and ethical issues in fashion. With 15 years of experience, the summit aims to spark urgent action and drive impactful changes in the industry. This event in China will build on the theme introduced at the Copenhagen edition earlier this year, “Unlocking The Next Level,” which stresses the need for collaborative action to achieve sustainability goals as key deadlines approach.

Federica Marchionni, CEO of GFA, will deliver a keynote address at CIIE on November 8, focusing on how emerging technologies can propel the fashion industry toward its climate goals.

We are glad to be bringing our established Global Fashion Summit to Shanghai… with the ambition to inspire action on sustainability and mobilize more alliances across the global fashion ecosystem.

China’s fashion industry, which accounted for 31.6% of the global market in 2023, plays a vital role in shaping consumer trends and influencing global fashion. As China’s luxury market continues to expand and the rise of ultra-fast fashion reshapes purchasing habits, the Global Fashion Summit: Shanghai Gala will emphasize collaboration across the value chain, bridging gaps between global markets and offering solutions for pressing environmental and social issues.

Lynn Fu, CEO of Chinamind NEXT, expressed confidence in the collaboration with GFA, stating, “We are confident that the Global Fashion Summit held in Shanghai… will open up further opportunities for Chinese enterprises to expand internationally, for international brands to establish a stronger presence in the Chinese market, and for the establishment of a shared vision of sustainability between the East and the West.”

The summit’s Shanghai Gala, followed by participation in CIIE, aims to unite GFA’s global sustainability leadership with Chinamind NEXT’s regional influence, setting the stage for ongoing collaboration and sustainable development in the fashion industry.
