‘God Of War’ and ‘Star Wars Outlaws’ nominated for Grammys

The nominations for the 67th annual Grammy Awards have been announced, with blockbuster titles like God Of War Ragnarök: Valhalla and Star Wars Outlaws competing in the Best Video Game score category.

The 2025 Grammys will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles, California on February 2, 2025. Beyoncé is leading the nominations with 11 nods for ‘Cowboy Carter’ but  Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift also feature heavily across the shortlist, which was confirmed on Friday (November 8).

A number of video games have also been nominated in the Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games And Other Interactive Media category, after the award was introduced in 2023 to “recognise excellence in score soundtrack albums comprised predominantly of original scores and created specifically for, or as a companion to, a current video game or other interactive media released within the qualification period.”

Bear McCreary makes it three for three with God Of War Ragnarök: Valhalla getting shortlisted this year after previously being nominated for Call Of Duty: Vanguard and God Of War Ragnarök, though he has yet to win. Star Wars Outlaws has also been nominated for the 2025 Grammys alongside other AAA games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora

Indie title Wizardry: Proving Grounds Of The Mad Overlord has also been shortlisted. “Overjoyed that my music was just nominated for a GRAMMY AWARD! Thank you Digital Eclipse for inviting me to compose the music for your wonderful game!  And thanks to everyone here for your amazing support,” wrote composer Winifred Philips on X.

The nominations for Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games are as follows:

  • Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora – Pinar Toprak
  • God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla – Bear McCreary
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – John Paesano
  • Star Wars Outlaws – Wilbert Roget, II
  • Wizardry: Proving Grounds Of The Mad Overlord – Winifred Phillips

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla won the inaugural award at the 2023 Grammys while Star Wars Jedi: Survivor picked up the trophy at the 2024 event.

In other news, Mass Effect is set to receive a television adaptation, following on from the success of Fallout earlier this year.
