Going out of business sale: Downtown Augusta bakery selling equipment, antique furniture
The owner of the pink house on Telfair Street is looking for a touch of green during a weekend sale.
Less than a month after The Augusta Chronicle first announced that downtown bakery and caterer Dolce Darlin’ would be closing its doors, business owner Cat Musgrove is posting information for a self-described “estate sale” June 1 and 2 at 404 Telfair St.
Much of the business’ equipment, shelving and home furnishings will be offered for purchase, first-come, first-served, Musgrove said in an online announcement.
A coda for Dolce: Owner closing Augusta bakery in the big pink house. Find out why.
“I’ll post a few descriptions and some photos,” she said. “But there is simply too much to post prices and photos for each item so you’ll have to come in to see.”
The inventory includes both antique and modern items. Crystal chandeliers work and are original to the house, Musgrove said. Tables for sale date to the late 1850s. Chairs range from the modern folding and stackable kind to straight-back designs from the late 1800s.
Other items include books, mirrors, picture frames, accent furniture and, in varying sizes, several Christmas trees.
For now, Dolce is fielding separate sale inquiries only on commercial-grade refrigerated display cases.
Musgrove began Dolce in 2013 as a catering business. She ran the business out of 404 Telfair St. since 2020, after buying the former La Maison on Telfair restaurant from Zelda Sowinski, widow of the restaurant’s chef and owner, Heinz Sowinski.
Musgrove announced Dolce’s closure in an online video April 28. After June 1, the bakery will close out its final private orders and cookie box shipments.
The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2.
