Golden Globes 2025 red carpet: How to watch for free, time, TV channel

The Golden Globe awards haven’t exactly been on a roll lately, not with memories lingering of NBC refusing to air the extravaganza is 2022, amid controversies and kerfuffles about a lack of diversity and ethical problems among the group awarding the prizes.

(“Live From E!: Golden Globes” red carpet coverage begins at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET, Sunday, Jan. 5 on the E! channel. You can live stream via Fubo, which offers a free trial; and also live stream via Sling)

The show did return to longtime broadcast home NBC in 2023 and 2024, but after last year’s disastrous hosting performance by comedian Jo Koy, who bombed with the crowd, viewers and critics — a trifecta! — it may be surprising that the Golden Globes ceremony is indeed returning to TV to kick off the 2025 awards season.

But, there are more changes in store for the 82nd annual Golden Globes. For one thing, the bash has moved from NBC to CBS. The host this time is comedian Nikki Glaser, whose resume includes delivering several zingers at the Tom Brady Roast on Netflix.

While there is, as usual, red carpet coverage prior to the show, the E! channel is also offering some changes this year. Comedian Heather McMahan will cost with Zuri Hall, of “Access Hollywood.” Keltie Knight, “E! News” cohost, will also be on hand, with observations about fashion and predictions of the night’s winners.

In addition to its reputation as a goofy, glitzy party, the Globes also get more attention that probably deserve because the awards honor both movies and TV. Leading nominees this year, for instance, include, in the movie categories, “Emilia Perez,” “The Brutalist,” “Conclave,” “Dune: Part Two,” “Anora,” “Wicked,” “Nickel Boys”and “Conclave.” Nominees in the TV categories include “The Bear,” “Shōgun,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “Baby Reindeer.”

The Golden Globes ceremony airs at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on CBS. For a complete list of this year’s nominations, go to the Golden Globes website.
