Google Down: Tech Giant Fixes Issue That Affected Millions Of Android Users Globally, All Details
Google was down for android users globally.
The US-based tech giant Google has finally fixed the server-related issue that affected millions of Android users globally. Many Android users from all over the world took to social media platform X and reported issues with the Google app on their phones.
“We fixed the issue with serving. There will be no more updates,” the company wrote on Google Search status web page.
As per users, the Google Search bar widget briefly displayed old queries before crashing. Google Discover failed to launch,and tapping the Voice Search microphone also caused the Google app to stop working.
According to Google’s status page, the issue began at 10:22 PM PT (10:52 AM IST) on September 14. Google confirmed the outage about an hour later, at 11:07 PM PT (11:30 AM IST). Google acknowledged the issue and said that it was working on a fix
“There’s an ongoing issue with serving in Google Search that’s affecting a large number of users searching on the Google app on Android. We’re working on identifying the root cause. Next update will be within 12 hours. The issue with serving has been mitigated and our systems are becoming stable, but we’re still working on a fix. Affected users still experiencing issues on the Google App on Android may try to clear the app cache and the app data through the Settings app. Next update will be within 12 hours,” the search giant had said.
While Google has not yet revealed the exact reason behind the outage, Downdetector.com, the outage tracking website, revealed that 67 per cent of the users reported issues with Google Search, while 30 per cent faced issues with the website. Also, 3 per cent users reported facing issues with Google Maps.
Many frustrated users took to social media platfoems to report the issue to Google. “Is Google down for anyone else? Keeps crashing, a user wrote on X.
“How interesting…GOOGLE IS DOWN At least on my phone. Anyone else is unable to open the browser on your iPhone or Samsung,” another users posted on X.
