Google is practically giving away Pixel Tablets for free with iPad trade-ins

Google is currently offering an insane deal that could net you a Pixel Tablet for a little as $0 with an eligible iPad trade-in.

The re-launched Google Pixel Tablet might not be quite as enticing to the mass market as the recent iPad launch. With a new $399 price that forgoes the charging and speaker dock, people wanting a solid-if-unspectacular second screen that runs the latest version of Android might want to take a look at this deal.

Available directly from the Google Store in the US, the base 128GB Pixel Tablet is free if you trade in specific iPads. Once Google receives the trade-in device and verifies it as in working order, the $399 price tag is knocked off completely. Google is offering a maximum discount of $450 for the iPad Pro (6th Gen).

Get a Pixel Tablet (128GB) for as low as $0 with eligible trade-in. Starts May 7, 2024 at 7:00 am PT and ends May 20, 2024 at 11:59 pm PT. Trade-in values vary based on condition, year, and configuration of your eligible device, and are subject to change upon inspection. Representative trade-in devices for max trade-in amount: $450 for iPad Pro (6th Gen).

This deal gets rather interesting here, even if you don’t already own an eligible Apple tablet. As noted by Threads user Andy Cheng, you can grab a seventh-generation iPad for as low as $125 from various online marketplaces – he notes the sixth-generation, but this is sadly only valued at $75. Google offers boosted trade-in values of $399 for the iPad Air (2nd, 4th, 5th Gen), iPad (7th, 8, 9th Gen).

So long as the iPad is in working order, this would effectively make the Pixel Tablet just $125 with a trade-in once the refund is issued to a payment card, or you’ll receive store credit if issues with original payment cards cannot be refunded.

Sadly, this Pixel Tablet trade-in offer looks limited to the US and is likely an attempt by Google to claw at some of Apple’s almost insurmountable tablet market share. It is only running until May 20, so if you do have an existing iPad lying around, now is the time to cash in.
