Gotham Knights Will Reportedly Come To Switch 2

Summary

  • It appears that Gotham Knights will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch successor as as third-party port.
  • Information about Gotham Knights comes by way of a LinkedIn résumé detailing work on “unannounced” platforms.
  • The game was previously rated for a Nintendo platform by the ESRB, though nothing materialized in the end.

While much of the Nintendo Switch 2 is shrouded in mystery, outside of knowing that it’ll come within the fiscal year, it appears that we at least have an idea of what kind of third-party software to expect when the console does launch. That grouping will apparently include Gotham KnightsWB Games Montreal’s 2022 Batman-family-centric action RPG.

It’s important to note that Gotham Knights was rated for the Nintendo Switch all the way back in 2023, though nothing ultimately materialized. This latest development seems to suggest that the game will be on both the original Switch and its successor.

Gotham Knights On The Go

As first spotted by Video Games Chronicle, a YouTuber named Doctre81 discovered an unnamed developer who’s listed as having worked on Gotham Knights for two “unannounced” platforms on his LinkedIn résumé.

It’s possible that at least one, if not both, of these platforms are Nintendo-related. The game was originally released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC, leaving the only remaining platforms as last-generation hardware, along with the unannounced Switch successor.

Of course, the game could find its way onto PS4 and Xbox One, and no one would bat an eye. That’s because both Star Wars Jedi Survivor and Hogwarts Legacy were both ported backwards, despite previously being released exclusively on “next-generation” hardware.

That said, given that an ESRB rating for Gotham Knights had previously leaked, it’s likely that a Switch port is in the works. To that end, Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav shared in 2024 that the company will focus on four gaming franchises moving forward, including DC, specifically Batman. In other words, a Gotham Knights port would put those plans into greater focus, though, ultimately, only time will tell what ends up happening.
