Gov. Cooper announces nearly 0-million manufacturing investment in Pitt County

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Hundreds of jobs are on the way to one Eastern Carolina county after the governor made the announcement this afternoon.

Governor Roy Cooper says that Japanese medical device maker Nipro Corp. has selected Pitt County for its first North American manufacturing facility.

The governor says that Nipro creates devices that support patients with diabetes, kidney disease, and other renal health issues.

Cooper says the company will invest $397 million which will create 232 jobs.

“Although wages will vary depending on the position, the average salary for the new positions will be $56,147, which exceeds the current average wage in Pitt County of $50,937. These new jobs could create a potential payroll impact of more than $13 million for the region each year,” according to a press release from the governor’s office. “The new campus in Greenville will host a medical training center for healthcare providers, customer service center, and increase the company’s global capacity to continue expanding its footprint and offering high-end medical devices in a 550,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility for the North American market.”

The facility will be built on Old Creek Road across from the Pitt County NCDMV.
