Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.46 Now Available, With Three New Cars, New Extra Menu, & New Engine Swaps

Gran Turismo 7’s Update 1.46 is now available, bringing two entirely new brands to the series as we revealed earlier in the week.

Aside from the fact that two of the vehicles represent manufacturers that have never been in a GT game before, it’s a regular three-car update and comes in at 1.09GB on PlayStation 5 and 1.11GB on PlayStation 4. That does mean that, as expected, there isn’t a new circuit to enjoy this month.

However there’s still plenty of information to get through, including new things in the patch notes, now that the update is available.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.46: New Cars

Courtesy of a little slip-up, we did already know the identities of the three cars coming in this update, but now the update is available we can say what their pricing and availability is:

  • Afeela Prototype ’24 – Brand Central – 0cr
  • Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 ’70 – Legends Cars – 163,000cr
  • Skoda Vision Gran Turismo – Brand Central – 1,000,000cr

The major surprise here is that the Afeela Prototype — the car created by Sony itself, in conjunction with its partner Honda — is a freebie. You won’t need to spend anything on the car, although it should be noted that this doesn’t give you a cheap way to pick up the Firm Favorite PSN Trophy for buying the same car ten times as this doesn’t qualify as “buying”.

There’s no specifications given for this debut vehicle, which previews a full production model scheduled for some time in 2025, although we do know that the real thing sports a twinned pair of motors — one on each axle — at 180kW (241hp) apiece, for a combined 482hp.

Given the unveiling yesterday, it’s Skoda’s Vision Gran Turismo that’s the headline act for this update, as well as the most expensive vehicle at the regular 1m credit price for all VGT cars. This single-seater sports car has four individual motors at 200kW (268hp) each, adding up to 1,072hp.

Weight is kept down to 1,300kg through extensive use of carbon in the chassis and the removable body, so it ought to be a blast — though the drivers racing it in yesterday’s event did have some trouble keeping it on the island at higher speeds. You’ll have a chance to try that out yourself in the new Online Time Trial event which begins today too.

Finally there’s some classic and dinosaur juice-burning action from the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454. As you’d expect, this 7.4-liter V8 beast lands in Legends Cars, where it’s temporarily available as a “Hot Pick” at 163,000cr. You’ll be able to buy it for the next few days before it drops into the regular rotation.

One new Extra Menu Book is added this month, focusing on one of the most legendary brands of all: Ferrari. It’s actually a surprise that there hasn’t been a Ferrari Extra Menu before.

Book 38: Ferrari 12-Cylinder Engines looks simple enough, but there is a little wrinkle that involves one of GT7’s least popular mechanisms. You’ll need to collect the 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB4 from Legends Cars, the 1991 Ferrari Testarossa from Used Cars, and the 2013 Ferrari La Ferrari from Brand Central.

That means waiting for the two classics to pop up in the used cars rotations (the Testarossa is available now as a Special Pick), but also that you’ll need a brand Invitation to score the LaFerrari as it’s one of three cars at Ferrari that you can’t just buy.

Invitations are given out rarely and can be for any one of the ten brands that require them, so this could be a Herculean task only solved by blind luck. If we were PD, we’d have made the F12berlinetta the third car and awarded the LaFerrari (as with the D-Type from last month’s Jaguar book) to prevent the frustration.

  • Extra Menu Book 38 — Ferrari 12-Cylinder Engines — Six-Star Roulette Ticket

There’s no new Bonus Menu Book in GT Cafe, but the game does get three new races for existing events in the World Circuits section. Each suits one of the three cars added in this update.

The Chevelle is the cover star for a three-lap race in the American FR Challenge 550 at Trial Mountain, worth 56,000cr. Alsace Village hosts the Afeela and friends for a three-lap race in the Japanese Clubman Cup 550, for a 60,000cr first prize. Finally it’s the Skoda’s turn to headline a race in the Vision Gran Turismo Trophy, with a five-lap run at Grand Valley Highway-1 worth 80,000cr for victory.

  • Alsace Village Reverse (3 laps) – Japanese Clubman Cup 550 – 60,000cr
  • Grand Valley Highway-1 (5 laps) – Vision GT Trophy – 80,000cr
  • Trial Mountain (3 laps) – American FR Challenge 550 – 56,000cr

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.46 – New Engine Swaps

This month’s engine swaps, as with others we’ve seen recently, stick to a theme. Unusually there’s no new engine this time round, but all five new swaps are new applications for existing Chevrolet engines — if not all necessarily from vehicles under the Chevrolet brand.

Two Gr.4 vehicles get the option of a new Chevrolet lump, with the Bugatti Veyron Gr.4 gaining an LS7-BRZ from the Subaru BRZ drift car and the Honda NSX Gr.4 now available with a similar LS7 from the Rampage Camaro.

There’s modern LT5 power for two classic Corvettes, with both the C1 and C2 Sting Ray coupe available as destinations for the C7 ZR1’s unit. Finally the Lexus LC500 is another option for the LS7-BRZ.

You’ll need to be Collector Level 50 to buy the engines directly from GT Auto, where they are quite steeply priced, although you can also receive them as prizes in some Roulette Tickets — including Six-Star (Engine) tickets — at any level.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.46 – Scapes and Other Changes

California’s San Diego stars in a new set of Scapes, with 19 new locations in and around Ron Burgundy’s favorite city (although we’ll spare you his translation). These mainly center on seafront and city street and parking areas.

The remaining patch notes are sparse, but do include one piece of information that’ll pique the interest of those who own the new flagship steering wheel. There is now support for the Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Extreme wheel, with button configuration available within the Fanatec GT DD Pro/Extreme section of the Options menu.

One item not part of the patch notes is a wide-ranging update to the Balance of Performance in both the Gr.3 and Gr.4 categories. This comes ahead of the GT World Series Manufacturers Cup which begins in just under two weeks, so hopefully you haven’t selected a preferred brand yet!

Naturally there’s the regular detail that “various other issues have been addressed”, without further specifics. Our community will be discovering these in due course in a dedicated Undocumented Changes thread, but we can once again say that the teased Suzuka Circuit environmental update is not one of them.
