Great River Brewery back in business with grand re-opening celebration

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – Friday was a big day in downtown Davenport as Great River Brewery held a grand re-opening ceremony after being closed for more than five years.

TV6′s Kyle Kiel was there for the grand opening celebration to find out what’s new.

Great River Brewery was a staple in downtown Davenport for about a decade, until the Mississippi River flooding in 2019 caused significant damage to the building, forcing it to close when the HESCO flood barriers broke.

The brewery had remained closed, until now.

Great River Brewery is under new ownership and the owners said they’re back and better than ever.

The reborn Great River Brewery has seating for more than 100 people both inside and outside- and another business that was forced to close after the flood of 2019, Streets of Italy Pizza, is also inside of Great River Brewery.

The owner of Streets of Italy told TV6 that they decided to buy the whole entire building, as well as Nerdspeak Brewery, which closed late last year.

Now, the three businesses, Great River Brewery, Streets of Italy and Nerdspeak Brewery, are combined into one building.

Great River Brewery is located at 332 East Second Street.

According to Great River Brewery’s website, hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
