Green Mountain Community Fitness Unveils Renovated Aquatics Facility – The Montpelier Bridge
Berlin fitness center, Green Mountain Community Fitness (GMCF), is making a splash with the grand reopening of its newly renovated aquatics facility, a significant milestone in its mission to enhance Central Vermont’s fitness offerings. A cornerstone of the campus at 652 Granger Road, the pool, hot tub and entrance area have undergone a striking makeover to provide a modern and inviting space for the community to enjoy.
The journey began in January of 2020 when GMCF took ownership of the neglected facility on the hill in Berlin, and immediately encountered the unexpected hurdles of a global pandemic forcing statewide closures and unprecedented restrictions. Circumstances continued to hamstring
the organization’s desire to promptly improve the aquatic facility, and ultimately delayed the planned renovation. Instead, a necessary shift in priorities led to the decision to focus on building and improving other areas of the facility before diving into the pool area.
Despite the setbacks, GMCF remained dedicated to its vision of creating a comprehensive fitness destination for Central Vermont and surrounding areas. After years of perseverance and hard work, GMCF is thrilled to unveil the revitalized aquatics facility which now stands as a testament to GMCF’s unwavering commitment to providing top-notch facilities and services for its
members.
The newly evolved facility boasts upgraded features designed with the safety and comfort of its community members in mind. Stage one included a transition to a saltwater filtration and sanitizing system completed in May of 2023. Stage two includes a full rebuild of the hot tub area, a new, non-slip deck throughout the interior, a full replacement of the pool liner, updated LED lighting, and a reworked accessible bathroom and entryway.
The pool offers a range of exciting opportunities for individuals of all ages and skill levels. From swim lessons for beginners to advanced training programs for competitive swimmers, the facility has been designed to cater to a diverse range of aquatic needs. Additionally, aqua fitness classes, a kids’ swim club and recreational swim sessions will continue to foster a vibrant and inclusive community atmosphere.
The grand reopening of the pool facility symbolizes a new chapter in GMCF’s journey towards creating and maintaining this vital resource for the Central Vermont community. GMCF believes that fostering a culture of wellness starts with providing quality facilities that inspire and support active lifestyles, and this aquatics project is another step in attaining that mission.
The GMCF Aquatics facility will officially open back up to members on Thursday, August 15, 2024. A celebration of the grand reopening will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a free public Open Swim until 12 p.m..
