Greenville chemical company expanding, adding new jobs

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A Greenville chemical company plans to invest more than $10 million toward a new, larger facility that will employ more people.

Gov. Roy Cooper announced today that UNX-Christeyns will expand and consolidate its operations in Greenville.

The company makes cleaning chemicals and products and has been around for more than 65 years.

The new 70,000-square-foot facility on Staton Road will employ 21 additional people, according to a news release.

The state says average wages will be just under $60,000, with the new jobs having the potential to create an annual payroll impact of $1.2 million.

UNX-Christeyns is getting a $40,000 One North Carolina Fund grant to help with the expansion.

“This expansion is more proof that North Carolina is indeed the best place to do business,” said Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders. “UNX-Christeyns is among the 250 chemical manufacturers that call North Carolina home, and this expansion affirms the strength of our infrastructure and workforce, and the low cost of business that have helped the company succeed.”
