Group of brazen thieves caught on video stealing thousands worth of sports equipment

A case of retail theft a group of brazen thieves have left two locally owned businesses out thousands of dollars.

Surveillance video captured at both locations shows the same group concealing several high-priced sports equipment under their clothing.

Store owners at Play It Again Sports in Henderson say it took them days to realize over a dozen of their high end baseball bats had gone missing, but by that point the group of thieves seen in their surveillance video had already targeted the Game Set Match Tennis and Pickleball store across the valley near Tropicana and Fort Apache.

Video captured early last week shows a pair of women with a child in arms enter Game Set Match. After scoping out a rack of pickleball paddles, surveillance shows one of the women strategically place herself in front of the camera.

The store manager says that’s when the women proceed to hide several paddles under their clothing.

“These are professionals; they know what they are doing; we just need to be more vigilant, more aware. New policies and procedures that have been implemented kind of cleared up the air, so there is more visibility,” said Game Set Match Manager Conrad C.

Conrad says after tallying up the missing items, he found the thieves had made off with 15 paddles and nearly $5,000 worth of merchandise.

After hearing of the theft and seeing the surveillance, store owners at Play It Again Sports in Henderson say they suspect that same group targeted their store minutes prior to the theft across town at Game Set Match.

Surveillance video from the same day shows what appears to be the same group dressed in the same clothing, casing several high-end baseball bats priced around $300-$400 each.

Store owners say after paying for a T-shirt in cash, the women walked away with 15 of the high end baseball bats.

“Really, there was no sound. They walked up to the counter, paid, and walked out while holding a small child, and so that is what Lynn was saying with the dresses and the outfits. I mean, they had to be fabricated for that,” said Play It Again Sports store owner Scott Pisan.

Now, both businesses say they have since moved their inventory and locked up some of their higher-end items to hopefully prevent future thefts.

“If you see something off, say something. You don’t have to say anything to the person, but to management or someone working at the store,” added Play It Again Sports store owner Lynne Pisan.

Both businesses have filed police reports, and police are actively working on both investigations.
