Guns, Gambling Debts, and Brawls: Bombshell Report Accuses Deion Sanders of Promoting Crazy Shit

“It’s like a real-life Grand Theft Auto video game,” one former player said. “There are many distractions with fights, guns, and money floating around. The environment is unlike any I’ve come from before.” 

I really encourage you to read this report by Athlon Sports. It is a wild tale of the type of environment that is being fostered by Deion Sanders at Colorado. The type of stuff that has been going on sounds insane. Apparently Deion Sanders is allegedly promoting fighting in the locker room as well as tons of other toxic behavior. There seems to be evidence that some players transferred and said the culture was just too extreme. This is definitely a hit piece of sorts and unfortunately, there are some connecting content that drives some to think the allegations are true. Some people point to this video in regard to promoting fighting. 

In regards to the allegations of a gun culture in the locker room, they point to this Instagram live of a guy committing with a Glock .40 (I’m just eyeballing might be wrong) on the table when he announced his commitment. 

There are also arrests made with other players allegedly having guns. 

Apparently they are denying all the accusations. Recently the long snapper was tasked with responding to all the craziness and I think it’s hilarious they have tasked the long snapper with all media duties. In it 

Head coach Prime Sanders was quoted saying 

“That’s when they know you are doing well, when they start lying,” Sanders said while enjoying a meal at CU’s facilities. “Shouldn’t there be some kind of penalty or ramification? But nevertheless we have the highest GPA in the history of the school. Wonder how they do that?” 

I mean some of these things are pretty typical of college football teams. Having 100 high-testosterone individuals is going to cause squabbles. Such as one described:

Days after the Seaton-Washington melee, the son of Kevin Mathis, who’s CU’s defensive back coach, was asked to pay Allen over a gambling debt in excess of $10,000, according to a former CU player. When Mathis refused, he allegedly proceeded to punch Allen repeatedly in the locker room, with players and coaches witnessing the assault. Allen allegedly refused to discuss the matter, fearing repercussions due to Mathis’ connection to Prime’s coaching staff. 

As long as Deion isn’t actively hosting a fight club in the locker room, or allowing players to bring guns into the facility, I feel he should be fine even if he promoted gun culture by taking guys to the shooting range. That’s a pretty common activity. I doubt Prime steps down. With the transfer culture, we are going to see looser lips among players who leave. This is just a symptom of the new college football landscape. No one cares about another random school with a no-name coach that’s having fights in the locker room, this one is gaining traction because it’s Prime. Everyone wants to tear a flashy guy down. They want the narrative of a disorderly wild west of a locker room because it’s good for clicks. Unless Prime is legit sanctioning fight club and gave explicit permission to allow guns around then he’s screwed. If that doesn’t come out this is a no story. When you take 100 18-23 high testosterone men shit happens. They are legit training to inflict violence on other jacked-up men. There’s going to be some friendly fire in the meantime.
