Hades 2’s big update adds new region, weapons, and characters

Supergiant Games updated Hades 2 on Wednesday with its first major update, called the Olympic Update. Hades 2 entered its early access development period in May, and has received several patches since then; Wednesday’s update is the first major content addition, bringing a new region and new weapons, boons, characters, and voice lines.

· New Region: Can you reach Olympus, the mountain of the gods? And if so… can you save it?
· New Weapon: Wield the otherworldly might of Xinth, the Black Coat — last of the Nocturnal Arms
· New Characters: Track down two new allies on their home turf and earn their favor
· New Familiars: You now can bond with two new animal companions… once you find them!
· Crossroads Renewal: Unlock dozens of new cosmetic items to liven up the Crossroads your way
· Expanded Story: Discover hours of new dialogue, as the plot thickens once you reach the new Region
· World Map: Look for this new presentation when moving from one Region of the world to another
· Mac Support: The game now runs natively on Macs on Apple M1 or later

There’s plenty more to the update, including a bunch of small tweaks and additions, which you can dig into in Hades 2’s patch notes. If you’ve already got Hades 2 purchased and downloaded, it should update automatically. If it doesn’t, Supergiant Games recommends restarting Steam.

Beyond the update, Supergiant Games provided an update on Hades 2’s road to completion — and early access exit. “But there’s plenty more to come, and we can safely say that our next Major Update in Early Access will not be our last,” Supergiant Games wrote. Supergiant Games expects to next focus on what happens after the third region, then “consider the main structure of the Surface Route to be complete.” It also plans to develop and add new booms and new enemies to keep Hades 2 “feeling fresh for as long as you play it.”

Hades 2’s next big update is expected in early 2025.
