Hampton Roads business number of the week: $1.82M

$1.82 million — That’s the amount raised for 208 charitable programs and causes during the 24-hour Give Local 757 regionwide online fundraising campaign, the Peninsula Community Foundation reported.

The foundation partnered with the Hampton Roads Community Foundation to organize the 11th annual giving day campaign on April 23. The united effort makes it easier for residents to support causes or organizations while getting the word out about the region’s nonprofits and their needs through social media campaigns aligned with the event. The website tallied more than 9,700 donors.
