Harrison Ford Says He ‘Wanted a Piece of the Action’ While Previewing Next ‘Captain America’ Movie

Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford are kicking off a new chapter for Captain America.

Captain America: Brave New World, in theaters Feb. 14, 2025, features Mackie, 45, back as Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon — who has inherited an iconic shield and a heck of a lot of responsibility from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. Cast members Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez and Giancarlo Esposito joined Mackie on stage at at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, where Mackie also introduced Ford, 82, as “Mr. President” after clips played from the new movie and confirmed Ford will appear as a red version of the Hulk.

“I am delighted and I am proud to become a member of the Marvel Universe,” Ford, who plays Thaddeus Ross — and inherited the role from the late William Hurt, who died in 2022 — said during the panel. “I have been watching fantastic actors having a good time… and I wanted a piece of the action. Fantastic! Marvelous, even.”

Marvel Studios executive Kevin Feige stated during the panel that Brave New World will prove a more “grounded” entry into the MCU, while the group also revealed that Esposito, 66, will play a character called Sidewinder.

“I never realized how heavy the shield was, and my costume is pretty heavy,” Mackie said of portraying Captain America. “I couldn’t have a better group of people…to help me with that responsibility.”
