Hazardous material leak closes TN travel center
ORLINDA, Tenn. (WSMV) – A travel center off of Interstate 65 North in Robertson County has been closed after a hazardous material leak from a tractor-trailer, according to Smokey Barn News (SBN).
Initially, smoke was coming from the tractor-trailer on I-65 North due to a likely chemical reaction involving sodium hydroxide, an irritant that can react with water, SBN reports.
The tractor-trailer was never on fire.
Several first-responding agencies along with a hazmat team are working to clean up the incident. No injuries have been reported.
SBN reports the Welcome Center is expected to remain closed for a few hours.
“Commuters should continue to avoid the area and expect delays,” SBN said.
