The new Helldivers 2 Major Order has brought with it a brand new mission type that has players mine Dark Fluid before the planet is completely wiped off the face of the galaxy. With there only being a handful of missions in the game, any new addition is usually met with open arms by the community. However, many are discovering that this new mission is extremely broken and not an enjoyable experience.

U/Alkifighter took to Reddit to discuss the new Dark Fluid mission that has been added as part of the current Major Order that will see the destruction of Meridia. In the post, they note that the developers mustn’t have spent much time play testing it due to the Terminid spawns often happening directly on the device, causing it to be destroyed and the mission being unable to be completed.

“The bug breaches spawn RIGHT on the tectonic drill. Clearly, the environment was designed to have 3 chokepoints from which bugs were supposed to come. How is ANYONE supposed to defend this, when EVERY time you load the dark fluid in the drill, the breaches appear with tons of hive guards, chargers and titans, that can basically one shot the drill? What was the design philosophy behind that? Do the devs even play the game at a level higher than 4? I’m not mad, i’m just genuinely baffled at how this EVER managed to get past the concept stage. Was the mission designed by an AI? It’s honestly kinda insulting.”

They aren’t the only one that has been frustrated with the design of the new mission, with u/HeliaXDemon saying “I have seen Twitch streamers with 500 hours that can do 9 Dif missions alone suffering a lot in this mission.” And if streamers that play Helldivers 2 full time are having issues with it, what chance do us casuals have?

Players are even finding the mission hard on the easiest difficulty, Trivial, with U/Eliermo saying “Tried on Trivial solo, to just see what it’s like, that are the objectives, etc. Good God, I wasn’t ready for 30-50 Shriekers at the end. Managed to successfully extract only on a third attempt. Was intense, memorable, but utterly broken. Would not recommend soloing. “Disgraceful conduct” for an unknown objective was like a rotten cherry on top.”

However, u/p_visual did provide a handy tip for avoiding the Shriekers saying “If you go prone shriekers can’t hit you. Just gotta keep an eye out for any ground bugs that walk your way.”

Even though I haven’t sold this mission as being enjoyable, if you do want to check it out you will only have a few days to do so as it shouldn’t be available once this Major Order is over due to Meridia being destroyed. But if you want to jump in and try it out, you will need to be kitted out with the ideal loadout so you can take out the relentless Terminid swarms.
