BOYS TENNIS

Division 1

Bay Port Sectional

Kimberly won the sectional title with 48 points and advances to the WIAA state team tournament for the first time.

Aiden Meixl of Kimberly took first place at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Cale Vogel of Appleton West in the championship match.

Eli Reider and Andrew Nhan of Kimberly won 6-4, 6-4 in the final to win the No. 1 doubles sectional championship.

The state individual tournament is May 30 to June 1 and the state team tournament is June 7-8 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.

Kohler Sectional

Notre Dame won the team title with 48 points to earn a trip to the WIAA state tournament.

Alex Thomas of Notre Dame won the No. 1 singles title at the sectional with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Joshua Horak of Xavier.

Notre Dame’s No. 1 doubles duo of Matt Gugluizza and Aidan Burich took first place with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Miles Gourlay and Jack Gilpin of University School of Milwaukee.

Appleton United 16, De Pere 7 (Tuesday)

DE PERE – Ryder Hill scored five goals and Hans Ridlehoover had four for Appleton in the victory.

Landon Larson added three goals, Anton Downs had two, and Roen Willis and Elliot Olm each had one for Appleton.

Larson led the way with four assists.

BASEBALL

De Pere 9, Sheboygan South 0

DE PERE – Javin Gauthier was 2-for-2 with five RBI, including a grand slam, to help the Redbirds clinch at least a share of the Fox River Classic Conference.

De Pere (20-3, 15-2) can clinch the conference championship outright with a win against Sheboygan North on Thursday in De Pere.

Easton Arendt also had a two-run home run. He also struck out 12 over five innings and allowed just two hits to get the win.

Dom Justus had two hits, including a double, to lead Sheboygan South.

Marinette 3, Crivitz 0

MARINETTE – Chase MacGregor and Weston Hanson combined to pitch a two-hit shutout for the Marines in the win over the Wolverines.

MacGregor pitched five innings, allowed two hits and struck out eight for the win. Hanson pitched two innings, did not allow a hit and struck out two for the save.

Wyatt Stauss hit a solo home run for Marinette and Hanson added two hits.
