Hibbing business still recovering from summer flood

HIBBING, Minn. (Northern News Now) – So much water filled the Hibbing O’Reilly Auto Parts in June, you couldn’t even see the floors.

“There was five to six inches of water up front here, about a foot in the back, mud everywhere,” said John Skalsky, a Retail Service Specialist at O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Skalsky said he was working the night of the flood and described it as a scene from the titanic.

Fans and shop vacs helped clean up and dry out. A month-and-a-half process with only a portion of the store open for business.

While it’s mostly back to normal there are still minor things that need to be done.

“There are shelves back there that we have to unpack and put away on that pallet back there yet, but other than that I mean everything is back to normal,” said Skalsky.

Skalsky says the store suffered thousands of dollars in damage, but they were able to save a lot of the products.
