Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Thursday, May 9.

Softball

Harford Tech 16, Joppatowne 1: Abby Reed and Shiloh Wall combined on a no-hitter as the Cobras beat the Mariners in a 1A North Region I quarterfinal. Reed struck out six in three innings, while Wall struck out four and gave up one unearned run in two innings. Offensively, Lyric Strong tripled, doubled and drove in three runs. Katie Burr and Violet Mulieri each drove in two.

Bel Air 13, Digital Harbor 0: Sofia Gallahue and Aubrey Buckmaster combined in the circle for a no-hitter and a total of 14 strikeouts out of the 15 outs. Alaina Torrence had a home run in the win. Ava Vecchioni had two singles and four RBIs.

Carver A&T 14, Edmondson-Westside 0: The Wildcats won their playoff opener after scoring 10 runs in the first inning. Emily Hamp tripled twice and drove in two runs. Allison Pumphrey doubled, singled and drove in two.

Liberty 16, Coppin Academy 0: Liberty scored 10 runs in the first inning and six more in the second as they cruised to a win in a 1A North Region II quarterfinal. Sophia Steele struck out eight in three innings and Kristin Kreh struck out five in two innings as they combined on a no-hitter. Haleigh Hodges and Hannah DeVincent each had two hits and three RBIs to pace the offense.

Westminster 10, Manchester Valley 3: The Owls opened strong with five runs in the top of the first. Briana Jeeter homered and drove in four runs in the win. Katelyn Clark added three hits and two RBIs. Aislin Cole, Briana Witter and Lila Moxley each finished with three hits and an RBI. Moxley was also the winning pitcher, allowing six hits and striking out six. She shutout the Mavericks after they scored three in the first inning.

River Hill 14, Blake 0: Annie Levine threw a five-inning no-hitter for River Hill, striking out eight. Levine also led the way at the plate with three hits and four RBIs. Cameron Lowe had a double and three RBIs for River Hill. The Hawks (11-7) won their seventh game in a row and advance to Monday’s 3A South Region II semifinal at Reservoir.

Baseball

North Harford 4, C. Milton Wright 0: Wyatt Canapp and Collin Kight combined on a three-hitter as the Hawks won their 2A North Region I quarterfinal. Canapp also had two RBIs to lead the Hawks’ offense. Knight and Matt Hart each had two hits.

Manchester Valley 4, Oakdale 3: The Mavericks trailed by two going into the top of the sixth. Luke Christman singled in two runs to tie the game and then in the seventh, Gene Magin’s bunt brought home Vincent Oxen for what proved to be the winning run. Magin got the win on the mound, striking out 13 and allowing just three hits in 6 ⅔ innings. Brayden Becker recorded the last out for the save.

Girls lacrosse

South Carroll 18, Francis Scott Key 3: The Cavaliers used a balanced offense to beat the Eagles in the 1A West Region I semifinals. Leah Miller topped the team with five goals and two assists. Cathryn Yankle and Ava Krantz were right behind here with four goals each. Addie Fowble had a goal and two assists.

Reservoir 17, Atholton 10: The Gators (9-6) advanced to the 3A South Region II finals with the win. Paige Malwitz scored a game-high five goals, while Nicole Neely added four. Taylor Sung also registered a hat trick.

Loch Raven 17, Pikesville 7: The Raiders outscored the Panthers 9-1 in the second quarter to pull away in their 1A North Region I semifinal. Sarah Watkeys led the win with six goals to go with five ground balls and four draw controls. Grace Landry and Charlotte Gongon each added three goals and Alli Henning finished with two goals and two assists.
