High school top performers of winter break – who was the best?

The high school winter sports season saw some great performances over break.

There were plenty of great performances across many sports and schools in the Holland area.

Who had the best performance? Vote for the top athlete of the week. Voting will go until noon Friday each week.

LAST WEEK’S WINNER: Georgia Kuyers, Zeeland West basketball

Here is a little more about each candidate:

Arthur Powell, Holland basketball

Scored 21 points in a last-second loss to Spring Lake and 16 points in a showdown with Ludington.

Aaliyah Dunbar, Holland basketball

Scored 13 points in a conference showdown with Spring Lake.

Aiden Chavez, Zeeland West wrestling

Dux grappler went unbeaten at the Hudsonville invite, defeating Reeths-Puffer, Hudsonville, Cedar Springs, Comstock Park and Byron Center.

JJ Ledford, Zeeland East wrestling

The Chix grappler won the Allendale Invitational at 120 pounds, going undefeated in the 16-team tournament.

Moses Vanderbilt, Holland Christian basketball

Scored 19 points and had seven steals in a win over Zeeland West to start OK Black Conference play.

Adelynn Nyhof, Holland Christian basketball

Scored 14 points in an OK Black Conference win over Zeeland West.

BJ Walker, Zeeland East basketball

The senior guard reached the 1,000 career point mark in a Cornerstone Holiday Tournament showdown with Grand Rapids Christian. He had 10 points in the game.

Sydni Smith, Black River basketball

Broke the Black River single-game scoring record with 29 points in a win over Sacred Heart.
