TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Longer wait times are expected at several local stores as residents in Hillsborough County head to shop for last-minute items.

Several residents in Tampa said they have seen empty shelves when it comes to the water and canned food aisles.

“It’s been hard to get water, we’ve been to three or four different locations,” Hillsborough County Resident Khiry McQuay said. “I even went to St. Pete to get some water.”

When it comes to essential things like water, food, gas, equipment, or services, price gouging laws are in effect.

If you see or suspect any price gouging, you can report it by calling1-866-966-7226 or by visiting http://myfloridalegal.com

“You can see a lot of people scattering everywhere. Everybody is going crazy, trying to get last-minute supplies and stuff like that.”

Publix, Winn-Dixie, Walmart and Aldi are just some of the stores that you can visit online to find out if a location near you is open.
