Historic Hanford business Superior Dairy up for sale

Superior Dairy in Hanford is for sale.

According to Realtor Ryan Portugal, the listing on the property is $2.5 million.

The business went on the market on Friday

Portugal says the business owner Tim Jones tells him he is ready to retire.

In a statement, Jones said the following regarding his decision.

For 95 years Superior Dairy Products Co., Inc. has been a staple of the Central Valley bringing people worldwide to visit the historic company and enjoy the best ice cream in the Central Valley. Started in 1929 by the Bowden family, “The Dairy” has been owned and operated by the family for all its 95 years. That being said, after a heavy thought and consideration, we have concluded that the business entity be offered for sale. Of primary consideration is a new owner will afford the chance to continue the Superior Diary legacy and deliver the quality products that our great loyal customers have come to know and expect since 1929. Ryan Portugal of Help-U-Sell Real Estate will be conducting the sale on our behalf. Any inquiry of interest in purchasing Superior Dairy should go through him. Please note that the staff onsite is referring all inquiries regarding the sale to Mr.Portugal.Thank you for 95 years of continuous support for Superior Dairy and we look forward to its new owner receiving another 95 years of support as they guide Superior Dairy in the future.

Portugal says the iconic business will continue operation until it’s sold.

Some of those interested in it are interested in restoring sit-down service as there has been no dine-in since before the pandemic.

The building dates back to the 1920s.

Superior Dairy has operated since 1929 in the same building.

Portugal says between 4:00 and 8:30 Friday evening he’s been on the phone nonstop with interested callers.
