Holiday travel rush hits Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
SEATAC, Wash. — Millions of travelers eager to reunite with loved ones are taking to the skies this holiday season, including passengers navigating one of the busiest travel weeks of the year at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Thanksgiving is one of the most jam-packed days at Sea-Tac, with nearly 177,000 travelers expected to pass through the airport surrounding the holiday.
Despite one checkpoint being down for construction, passengers said the holiday rush could be worse, and many came prepared for potential delays.
“It seems like everyone is moving fast so we should be good to get over there and on time,” said a traveler.

“I am here three hours early so I am hoping to get through it,” said another traveler. “And if I get stopped, I get stopped.”
Some travelers have taken extra precautions to avoid the stress of holiday travel.
“I took PTO for tomorrow to make sure I don’t have to deal with the travel today,” a passenger told KOMO News.
“As long as you add an extra hour or two on top of what you plan ahead, you should be good,” another traveler said.
Some experienced travelers spoke to KOMO News and emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive attitude despite airport headaches.
“Everyone here is traveling to be with people who are important to them, so keep that positive mindset in mind and we will get there,” one of them said.
The ultimate goal remains the same for many: a family meal filled with loved ones, thanks, and memories for the new year.
