Holiday travel safety tips offered for families
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Holiday travel can be filled with a lot of fun memories for kids – road trips with the entire family and visits to see family.’
Before you hit the road this holiday season, Carilion Children’s and Safe Kids Southwest Virginia wants to remind parents and caregivers how to keep kids safe while traveling.
Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician Jill Lucas joins us on Here @ Home to talk about the importance of proper restraining of kids while on the road.
Holiday travel brings a risk of injuries in a variety of areas. Road injuries are one of the leading cause of preventable deaths and injuries to children in the United States. Meanwhile, as many as 70-80% of children are not restrained properly.
Listen in to our conversation and parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend their upcoming car seat safety check on Thursday, November 21st from 4-6 pm at Roanoke City Fire Station #6.
Assistance will be provided from a certified car seat safety technician to ensure that their children are safe. Not just for the Holiday, but for every ride in the vehicle.
