Hollywood Dazzles as LA Fashion Week 2024 Unfolds

As the sun dipped behind the iconic skyline of Los Angeles, a new chapter of style was written during the highly-anticipated LA Fashion Week 2024. The city, known for its blend of entertainment, culture, and fashion, hosted a star-studded celebration, Fashion For Peace, powered by For The Stars Fashion House, led by visionary philanthropist, and fashion icon, Jacob Meir.

This year’s LA Fashion Week promises to be more than just a showcase of fabric and glamor; it’s a fusion of the city’s rich fashion legacy and its future-forward approach. Taking place at Avalon Hollywood & Bardot at the intersection Hollywood Boulevard and Vine, the event saw the most renowned minds in fashion, influencers, celebrities, and style enthusiasts come together in an unforgettable celebration for charity.

For more than 40-years, Jacob Meir has been the go-to designer for A-list celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Carrie Underwood, Whtiney Houston, Katy Perry, and Michael Jackson. His designs have appeared in major projects like America’s Next Top Model. He spends much of his time at For The Stars Fashion House, his Melrose Avenue, a triple storefront fashion mini-city that regularly attracts a host of celebrities seeking custom couture.

Though Fashion For Peace celebrated Meir’s iconic fashion, the true heart of the event was philanthropy. Over the course of his career, Meir has dedicated himself not only to fashion but to giving back. His charitable efforts earned him The Presidential Medal of Honor, awarded by the Consulate General of the United Nations. Meir said, “Throughout the course of my life, my goal is to use my fashion and resources to promote peace throughout the world. In my travels, I have come to deeply understand that everyone’s wish is to live in peace. As an avid supporter of these charitable organizations – and others – throughout my 40-year career, I am honored to establish Fashion For Peace to maximize the impact of charitable donations and raise awareness for these noteworthy causes.”

The red carpet was a star-studded affair, attracting celebrities from the worlds of music, film, fashion, and sports. Among the attendees were Vivica A. Fox, Akon, Deborah Cox, Toni Braxton, Jason Derulo, Lamar Odom, Moran Atias, Paula Abdul, and Richard Lawson, a true “who’s who” of Hollywood elite.

Inside, Avalon Hollywood & Bardot was transformed into an international multi-cultural fashion mecca. The runway featured supermodels like Christopher Cote, Connie Peña, and Arena Zeynali.

The night began with a spectacular introduction by Senegalese superstar Akon, who presented Queen Ahneva Ahneva’s runway show. Ahneva, founder of the African Textile Museum and an influential cultural designer, showcased pieces made from textiles sourced from five African countries. Her clientele includes stars like Chris Tucker, Bill Clinton, and Angela Bassett, and her work has reshaped the global view of African fashion’s deep cultural significance.

Featured newcomer Tyler Sebago, who was also tasked with interviewing celebrity arrivals, graced the runway, moved like a seasoned professional, eliciting notable attention from spectators, buyers and attending media. Sebago, who is himself involved with several charitable causes, told us, “I was so excited to be asked to join such a legendary group of talent, and especially excited to work with Jacob (Meir) to support such an amazing group of charities. So many take fame and fortune for granted, but Jacob really puts all of that aside. It’s amazing to watch someone really operate from a place of creative genius, and talent, and not a place of ego. What an amazing experience to be a part of. Nobody does it better than Jacob Meir.”

During the event, Meir also brought out Nate Simon, the founder and CEO of 21 Pineapples Shirt Co. Simon, who has Down syndrome, has worked closely with Meir for over a decade. Simon said his company’s mission is to, “change the way others perceive people with Down Syndrome & other special abilities one Hawaiian shirt at a time.” Their collaboration has led to the brand’s widespread success.

Another highlight was Paula Abdul’s representation of Wigs and Wishes, a non-profit organization that provides wigs and grants wishes to children battling cancer. Sports executive Richard Lawson also shared stories about The RL Studios Foundation, which offers mentorship and scholarships to empower young artists in pursuing their passions.

LA’s elite, decked out in dazzling attire, graced the scene, turning heads both on-site and across social media platforms. Designers and models from around the world shared the spotlight, showcasing their creativity on a global stage that captured every stunning detail.

As the night unfolded, an exclusive, invite-only after-party capped off the festivities, providing guests with a night to remember, with an exclusive music set provided by DJ Bravoo.

LA Fashion Week isn’t just an event — it’s a cultural moment, a movement that celebrates the art and innovation that has made Los Angeles a fashion trendsetter on the global stage. With For The Stars Fashion House at the helm, LA Fashion Week has already been a testament to the diversity, bold artistry, and philanthropy that defines the city’s fashion scene.

The 2024 Fashion For Peace gala was a massive success, and is set to return with an even bigger show for Los Angeles Fashion Week 2025.
