Hollywood production levels remain low

LOS ANGELES — FilmLA’s latest quarterly report shows that on-location production declined 12.4%, reality TV productions declined 56.9%, and stage-based production is at its lowest level since FilmLA began reporting in 2016. 

The lingering effects of the WGA and SAG labor disputes and uncertainty about the outcome of industry contract talks with IATSE and the Teamsters are seen as major contributors to the drop in production levels. 

In July, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced the creation of the city’s Entertainment Industry Cabinet to examine ways to keep creative jobs in Hollywood.
