HOMETOWN ENTERTAINMENT: Comedian Tom Segura coming to Roanoke as part of his “Come Together” tour

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) -While Tom Segura is known for his Netflix TV specials, he’s hoping for a big live crowd for the Roanoke stop on his “Come Together” tour.

“I just think in general, anybody that has the chance to see a live show, there’s no comparison,” says actor/comedian Segura.

When we asked him where his comedy comes from, Segura’s answer was simple.

“I think I just basically report on life, as I always have,” says Segura.

“When I was expecting a kid, and then when my dad died, whatever’s happening in life is what I tend to talk about,” says Segura.

A lot of Segura’s material is inspired by his two sons, including the title of his New York Times Bestselling book, “I’d Like to Play Alone, Please.”

It came from the first full sentence spoken by his oldest son.

“I came home, and he was sitting on the play room floor, and I just sat down next to him, and then he just turned to me and he goes, ‘I’d like to play alone, please’.”

For him, comedy is a family affair.

Segura co-hosts the podcast, “Your Mom’s House” with his wife, Christina Pazsitzky.

So we had to ask, does she ever weigh in on what he should or shouldn’t include in his standup?

“I’ll run something by her, and if she just kind of looks at me as like “ugh”, then I go, oh that’s going to be good,” says Segura.

Tom Segura will bring his “Come Together” tour to the Berglund Center in Roanoke August 8 at 7:30 pm.
