The new map and all of its contents are vast in New World: Aeternum, so players will need to spend quite a bit of time revealing the many landmarks and settlements as the island’s secrets are unraveled. Thankfully, the more of Aeternum you discover, the easier it is to move around the enormous island.

Fans of MMOs will be able to jump from one corner of Aeternum to another with the game’s fast travel mechanics. To make use of these, players will need to acquire an understanding as to how to fast travel in New World: Aternum, as well as making the most of the game’s Inns.

How To Fast Travel in New World: Aeternum

Fast traveling is the most convenient way to move around the map in New World: Aeternum, especially as you progress through the game and explore more of the game’s many territories. While it’s not readily available from the map like in RPGs like Skyrim, the fast travel mechanic in the game actively encourages players to traverse as much of what the game has to offer as possible.

To fast travel, players will need to approach a Fast Travel Shrine and interact with it. This will bring up the game’s map, whereby you will need to select the other shrine you wish to travel to. This will only work for shrines you have visited previously, or settlements you have discovered along your journey. Unlocking a new shrine is a simple process, as you need only walk up to it and a pop-up message will appear to indicate that you have unlocked the fast travel point and can use it from then on.

Fast traveling costs Azoth, which is the blue gem-looking resource that players collect along the way. It only costs 10 to use this mechanic, and the resource is very easy to find, so it’s unlikely that you’ll run out if you’re completing missions. You’ll earn plenty of Azoth as you complete both main and side quests, so ensure you continue to tick along with those and you won’t be limited in your ability to fast travel.

How To Use Inns in New World: Aeternum

As an alternative to standard fast traveling, players can also check in to an inn and use it as a means to quickly move to another point on the popular MMO’s map. Unlike Shrines, recalling your character to the inn can be done from any place at any time. However, this is limited to one active inn at a time, so it is best to ensure you visit and check in to the inn at the closest settlement to where you are, so you can go back to it and make use of its resources and crafting stations.

To check in to an inn, simply walk into one and approach the reception. From there, you’ll be given a prompt to check in, which will then make it the active inn you can fast travel to. To recall your character, simply open the map, hover over the settlement where the inn is located, and select Recall to Inn. This will require a few seconds in-game to trigger successfully, so ensure you are not currently engaged in combat, as this will interrupt your recall attempt.
