Till now Apple had been ruling the technology market with its long list of products. From iPhones to smartwatches, it has always been the most loved technology brand. But according to some recent reports, Huawei is overtaking the smartwatch market which had been ruled by Apple. Let’s have a look at the details of the new leader in the smartwatch sector.
The best smartwatch award goes to
As reported by the IDC, Huawei has taken the ‘best smartwatch’ award from Apple. During the first nine months of this year, this tech company has sold the most number of smartwatches. In addition to this, it has also seen an increase in the sale of fitness bands. Notably, Huawei is a tech giant based out of China.
But what was the reason for this sudden popularity? The Chinese tech giant seems to have managed to take over Apple by introducing new models. This includes models such as the GT5 and GT5 Pro. These models were not just regular smartwatches but also came with advanced health-tracking features.
Apart from this, another reason could be the strategy of making Huawei’s products cater to local markets. This eventually led the company to expand its product availability into regions such as Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Latin America.
Other updates
The report further reveals that China has significantly impacted the global market. The country saw a 20% increase in wrist-worn device shipments in 2024. It also highlighted that Chinese consumers are quite interested in fitness bands and smartwatches. The interest is mainly driven by features such as sleek, stylish designs and health tracking features.
Furthermore, other brands such as Samsung and Xiaomi are also gaining more consumers. The latest example could be Xiaomi’s Watch S series and Band 9, which offer great features at competitive prices. Similarly, Samsung has strengthened its position by offering premium yet affordable models.
